50 Small Pleasures of My Life #4

Eating out and finishing off with a nice glass of wine (preferably) and a cigarette. Unfortunately, as of the first of this year, soon to be a rare pleasure...
Sniff, Sniff
( and no, this is not me, alas...)

(Suspiro)

50 Small Pleasures of My Life #1

My early morning fix, originally uploaded by Big Mamma Costa.

Good morning!

A real autumn-like rainy day outside but in here the sun shines!
I found myself wide awake again at 7 am, something that has been happening a lot lately. Another characteristic of my age and the phase I'm going through, they tell me... After all I am 49 and it seems a lot of women my age have the same complaint. It seems this and many other small and not so small annoyances are something we will have to live with for the coming years.
While getting the daily round of orange juice for the family, I made a decision: during this year, and until by 5oth birthday, I shall make a list of little (or maybe big, who knows) things that move me in some way, things that give me pleasure, that touch me or excite me. The objective is to select the top 50 things that will hopefully portrait me. Let's see what comes out of this.
Have a nice Sunday everyone!

=============================================================

Google UK celebrando Roald Dahl

Segue artigo no jornal Guardian online:

Dahl beats Rowling as young adults' favourite authorPress AssociationTuesday September 11, 2007

Roald Dahl remains the most popular children's author among young adults, a survey has found.

JK Rowling, whose first Harry Potter book sparked a publishing sensation when it hit the bookshelves 10 years ago, is only the fourth most popular author.

Second and third place were taken by CS Lewis, author of The Chronicles of Narnia series, and Peter Pan creator JM Barrie.

Prolific children's writer Enid Blyton, famous for the Famous Five series and the Noddy books, only made 10th place.

She was scooped by Anthony Horowitz, creator of the Alex Rider teenage spy novels, followed by bestselling writer Jacqueline Wilson.

Dr Seuss, whose most famous book was The Cat in the Hat, was seventh, followed by His Dark Materials author Philip Pullman and Francesca Simon, author of the Horrid Henry books.

The survey of 16- to 34-year-olds was commissioned by ITV3 to mark its Roald Dahl weekend on September 22.

Roald Dahl literary estate director Amanda Conquy said: "It's always great to hear how enduringly popular Roald Dahl's stories are.
"

They truly seem to be passed on from one generation to the next with the utmost enthusiasm and affection."

The top 10

1. Roald Dahl

2. CS Lewis
3. JM Barrie
4. JK Rowling
5. Anthony Horowitz
6. Jacqueline Wilson
7. Dr Seuss 8. Philip Pullman
9. Francesca Simon
10. Enid Blyton

Just laziyng around...

Podemos chorar e fechar a nossa mente,
sentir-nos vazios e virar as costas
Ou podemos fazer aquilo que ele desejaria :
sorrir, abrir os olhos,
amar e seguir em frente
